The Tournament of Friendship was founded on the premise of bringing people together to help us better relate to one another. A by product of this "coming together" is our ability to provide assistance to young men and women who aspire to serve their communities. The “TOURNAMENT OF FRIENDSHIP” was established in 1982, which means we're celebrating our 26th year of building bridges thanks to you and your support. This year, we have a hole in one contest for a lease on a Ford Mustang thanks to Courtesy Ford in Okemos as well as a silent auction that you can take part in!
Over the years, many fine students have benefited through scholarships from the “TOURNAMENT OF FRIENDSHIP, completed their studies at Michigan State University and Lansing Community College, and have proceeded to enter careers in criminal justice and firefighting. It is through your participation in this annual fund-raising tournament that we are able to continue to provide financial assistance to deserving women and minority students. We have been able to bring some of these recipients back to our event the last couple of years which we think has put some perspective on who we help.
The Tournament of Friendship provides three $1,000 scholarships to students enrolled in the Criminal Justice program at Michigan State University (MSU), and three $1,000 scholarships to students enrolled in the EMS/Fire Sciences program at Lansing Community College (LCC). To see the profiles of some of our past recipients, you can visit our Award Recipients page. If you'd like to learn more about the course of study our recipients pursue, you can visit the School of Criminal Justice at MSU or LCC's Fire Science, Paramedic or Police Academy programs.
